Canon Speedlite EL-5 Camera Flash

The Canon Speedlite EL-5 boasts a fresh design and inherits multiple features from the top-of-the-line Speedlite EL-1, while also incorporating its own modern additions. One of these enhancements is the utilization of the LP-EL rechargeable battery, known for its high capacity. This improvement alone allows the EL-5 to outperform any Canon flash powered by AA batteries. With this increased power, the flash can recycle in just 1.2 seconds at full manual power and last for up to 350 flashes on a single charge.

The EL-5 lacks an internal fan, allowing all of its power to be dedicated to recycling and firing the flash. Both the joystick and selection dial have been carried over from the EL-1, allowing for effortless operation of the flash while shooting. Additionally, the Multi-function connector on the "foot" of the EL-5 allows for advanced communication with cameras equipped with a multi-function shoe. Flash settings can also be adjusted directly on the camera's touch LCD. It's important to note that due to the switch to Canon's Multi-function accessory shoe, the Speedlite EL-5 is not compatible with Canon cameras using other accessory shoe designs.
